Declaration of Independence

Purchase a reprint of the United States Declaration of Independence, sometimes called the John Dunlap Broadside printed on letterpress equipment using type similar to that used on July 4, 1776. It is available unframed or framed suitable for hanging in professional offices, libraries and schools. It is a unique gift for him or any collector interested in American history. In the summer of 2000, an original Dunlap Declaration of Independence sold at auction for over $8,000,000.

The author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, met with other founding fathers, George Washington, Ben Franklin and John Hancock in Philadelphia as part of the Continental Congress to write a Declaration to King George III. On July 4, 1776, John Dunlap was commissioned by the signers to put the document into print for posting as a broadside in the various Colonies.

This document is not an offset reproduction, it is a reprint of the United States Declaration of Independence. It is printed on archival paper from the Rives mill - Rives Heavyweight Buff using an old recipe Black Ink. The type used is of the same family (Caslon) as in the Dunlap Broadside including the long "s". The prints were pulled individually from the type form which was inked each time by hand on a flatbed press, just as John Dunlap printed the United States Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 using a wooden English Common Press.
